The Plaid Horse Magazine Named Presenting Sponsor of USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge

Lexington, KY—– March 24, 2015—– USHJA is pleased to announce The Plaid Horse Magazine as the presenting sponsor of the 2015 Horsemanship Quiz Challenge and Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Nationals.

“The Plaid Horse is thrilled to partner with the USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge,” said Plaid Horse owner Piper Klemm. “When I first attended the national finals, all I could think is how cool it would have been to participate in it as a young rider. It is such a great opportunity for riders to learn and show off their skills as successful horsemen and vital to bridging the grass roots and higher levels of the hunter/jumper industry.”

The Horsemanship Quiz Challenge encourages young equestrians to test their horsemanship knowledge by completing the online practice quiz and the Level One and Level Two Quizzes. Participants who excel will be eligible for selection to compete in the 2015 HQC Nationals where they can win a bevy of prizes including a $1,000 grant for training and education, provided by the USHJA Foundation, as well as a Charles Owen helmet.

“We are pleased to welcome The Plaid Horse as presenting sponsor of the Horsemanship Quiz Challenge,” said USHJA President Bill Moroney. “We look forward to this program’s continued growth, encouraging our youth to celebrate horsemanship and the pursuit of knowledge within the sport.”

Resources are available to encourage and assist participants in preparing for the online quizzes including a practice quiz and a study guide. The official study guide covers topics that include horse identification, anatomy, nutrition, riding theory and welfare, and is available to everyone interested in expanding their equine knowledge, not just HQC participants.

The HQC is open to any USHJA member who was not 21 years old prior to December 1 of the current competition year. Two different levels of quizzes, composed of multiple-choice and true/false questions, will be administered online. Participants must score an 80 percent or above on the Level One Quiz to advance to the Level Two Quiz. Those who score 90 percent or above on the Level Two Quiz will be eligible for selection to compete at the 2015 HQC Nationals.
