On April 15, 2015, Grace Howard signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Georgia in the fall 2015 as a member of the NCAA Women’s’ Equestrian Team. Currently ranked number one in its conference, UGA has won the national title four of the last seven years and six times overall.

Grace took her first riding lesson when she was 4 years old after obsessing about horses in preschool. Two years later, her parents bought her first pony, a Shetland haflinger mix named Sherman. By 8, Grace was showing on the “A” show circuit for hunter/jumpers.

The 17 year old currently trains with Jack and Liza Towell Boyd at Finally Farm in Camden, S.C. and competes in the Junior Hunter Division on her gelding Bethel’s Peri and in the High Children’s Jumpers on her gelding HiHo Houdini.

Last year, Grace and her Large Jr Hunter “Peri” were ranked fifth in the nation and qualified for the indoor circuit winning ribbons in D.C. and Lexington, Kentucky.

After considering other schools, Grace toured the University of Georgia during a recruiting visit and fell in love with the school. Georgia recently won the 2015 SEC Championship and enters this weekend’s national championship as the defending national champion.
