In light of the recent tragedy in Orlando, the staff of the Plaid Horse extends our deepest sympathy to the victims of this horrific crime. We stand behind the rights of the LGBT community and commend those who have stood against the heinous and debilitating effects of prejudice. Our horse show community has spoken in one loud, resonating voice in support of tolerance and inclusion. From tragedy rises the best of mankind: love, kindness, brotherhood. As Ken Burns stated in his graduation speech at Stanford University, “the conversation that comes out of tragedy and injustice needs to be encouraged- emphasis on courage.”

Let us all be the voice of courage and compassion. Let us all honor the victims of Orlando not only with our words, but in our lives.
