Andrew Kocher Wins $20,000 CMJ Sporthorse 1.40-Meter Open Jumper Stake at 47th Annual Lake Placid Horse Show O’Mara, Smith, and Slater Win Jumper Classics

Lake Placid, NY – July 2, 2016 – Andrew Kocher rode Coconut to victory in the $20,000CMJ Sporthorse 1.40-meter Open Jumper Stake at the 47th annual Lake Placid Horse Show, presented by Sea Shore Stables LLC.

Thirteen of 28 entries advanced to the jump-off by riding fault-free over the 14-jump first-round course designed by Olaf Petersen, Jr. of Germany. Five managed to go clean again over the nine-jump tiebreaker course and Kocher earned the win by finishing in the fastest time of 44.754 seconds.

Placing second was David Raposa who finished clean in 46.885 seconds on S&L Sage and third went to Cormac Hanley who was clean in 47.246 seconds on Twan.

Saturday also featured three Classics in the Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix Field at the North Elba Showgrounds. In the $7,500 High Peaks Resort Low Junior Jumper Classic, T.J. O’Mara rode Brosnan to victory over a 38-horse field. Eleven horses reached the jump-off with three turning in a second clean round. O’Mara had the fastest clean ride in the jump-off, finishing in 35.560 seconds to claim the win. Placing second was Samantha Cohen who finished in 35.640 seconds on Billy Olive with Gia Vizzone taking third with a time of 39.058 seconds on Collin W.

In the $7,500 Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort Low Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, Callie Smith rode Upstaire to victory over a 37-horse field. Of the 12 horses that reached the jump-off, six rode clean again with Smith turning in the fastest jump-off time of 32.700 seconds to claim the win. Maddy Gastineau finished second with a time of 32.906 seconds on Limited Edition while Jazz Johnson Merton was third with a time of 32.919 seconds on Ahaveros.

In the $5,000 J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines Adult Amateur Jumper Classic, Joy Slater rode Oilean Uno to the win over a 29-horse field. Eight horses qualified for the jump-off and Slater turned in the fastest clean ride in the jump-off, finishing in 37.753 seconds for the win. Flora Manship was second with a clean ride in 39.870 seconds on Vincent Van De Heinrietthoeve and Sarah Gordon was third with a clean ride in 40.389 seconds on Bonitha.

The $5,000 J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines Adult Amateur Jumper Classic is a member event of the North American League (NAL), awarding points for riders to qualify for the NAL year-end Finals at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show in Harrisburg in October and the Las Vegas National Horse Show in November.

The Lake Placid Horse Show culminates Sunday with the $75,000 Devoucoux Grand Prix of Lake Placid presented by Sea Shore Stables, LLC at 2:00 PM. Sunday’s action, which begins at 8:00 AM, also includes the $5,000 The Wild Center Children’s Jumper Classic; $10,000 Mirror Lake Inn Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic; Juliam Farm Lead Line Class (1:00 PM); C.M. Hadfield’s Parade of Champions (1:30 PM); $1,000 MME Adult Amateur Hunter Classic; $1,000 MMG Children’s Hunter Classic; and various other Hunter, Jumper, & Equitation Classes.

Following an off day on Monday, the I Love New York Horse Show follows, July 5-10, featuring the $100,000 Equine Insurance Services/Great American Grand Pix onSaturday, July 9. Admission to the horse show is just $2.00 on weekdays and $5.00 on weekends. Children under the age of 12 are admitted free. Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more.

For a behind the scenes look at the horse show, guided walking tours are offered on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 11:30 a.m. The tour groups meet at the horse show retail booth, and the tours, costing just $1.00, last approximately one hour.
