Harrisburg, Pennsylvania – September 23, 2016 – The Pennsylvania National HorseShow Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1999 that assists infunding therapeutic riding and equine rescue programs, has announced twenty-five equine groups that have been chosen as grant recipients this year. The Foundation works in conjunction with the Pennsylvania National Horse Show presented by The Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund (PNHS). The horse show returns to the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg, PA, October 13-22.
“The Foundation is delighted to support such a wonderful variety of equine groups,” said Susie Webb, PNHS Executive Director. “We are proud to continue assisting such deserving organizations that make a difference in the lives of horses and people with special needs.”
The twenty-five equine groups that are recipients of this year’s grant program include:

The proceeds from the PNHS are divided between the PNHS Foundation and The Harrisburg Kiwanis Youth Foundation. The PNHS Foundation gives to equine programs while the Kiwanis Foundation donates to youth programs. Since its inception in 1947 the PNHS has donated $1.68 million dollars to the Kiwanis Youth Foundation and $350,000 to local therapy and equine groups since 1999. Applications for grants are accepted throughout the year with action upon requests awarded in September.
The PNHS is one of the largest and most prestigious horse shows in the U.S., hosting Junior and Adult competitors who vie for eight national championships — including the prestigious Pessoa/US Hunter Seat Medal Final and the Neue Schule/USEF National Junior Jumper Individual and Team Championships. With ten days of national top competition, 15,000 spectators, 1,400 competitors and 1,000,000 live feed viewers, the event showcases the best in the sport and is the launching ground for many future Olympians.
Tickets are still available for all sessions of this year’s show. The Ben GallaherCountry Music Finale will take place on Saturday evening, October 22 following the$100,000 Grand Prix de Penn National presented by The Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund. ONE ticket allows guests to enjoy BOTH the Grand Prix and the Ben Gallaher Country Music Finale. The show also features special theme days includingFamily Fun Day on Saturday, October 15 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm; Hunt Night on Monday, October 17; Pink Out with the PA Breast Cancer Coalition on Thursday, October 20; and Foundation Friday on October 21 in addition to great shopping, with over 70 vendors featuring clothing, antiques, art work, jewelry and equestrian products.
