The Plaid Horse is excited to congratulate our Editor, Sissy Wickes, on being elected as an at-large director for the USHJA Board of Directors. Sissy was one of several new board members elected on December 12, 2016. The USHJA Board elected three new at-large board members, a national Vice President, and Treasurer, and ratified Hunter and Jumper Working Group appointments for chairs and discipline directors. All elected and appointed members of the Board of Directors assumed their duties immediately following the close of this year’s Annual Meeting, in Palm Springs, California
“It is an exciting time to be involved with new leadership and the innovative programmatic and governance initiatives that are currently under discussion. I look forward to serving the association in improving our sport and industry,” Wickes said.
Wickes is a Princeton University graduate, a lifelong rider and trainer, a USEF R rated judge, a freelance journalist, an autism advocate and Editor of The Plaid Horse. Her illustrious resume includes extensive show hunter and jumper experience. She lives with her family in Unionville, PA and Wellington, FL.
Candidates for the Board of Directors election were determined through a multi-step process. First, nominations submitted by USHJA members were reviewed by the USHJA Nominating Committee. Then, committee members interviewed candidates before submitting their own recommendations for each position for the ballot. Nominees are voted upon by the current Board members at the USHJA Annual Meeting. New Board members begin to serve a four-year term at the conclusion of the meeting.
