As the start of the summer horse show season approaches, riders everywhere are preparing to travel to shows all across the country. Whether they will be at the show for a day or a month, it is important to make sure you have everything you will need to do your best! To help make packing a little easier, I created the “Ultimate Horse Show Packing List” so you do not forget anything on your big day!
For the Rider:
- Show coat
- Show shirt
- Show pants
- Belt
- Socks
- Horse show bows (for younger riders) OR hairnets
- Gloves
- Helmet
- Riding boots
- Garters (for younger riders)
- Crop
- Spurs
- Riding clothes for days you are not showing
- Hat and/or sunglasses
- Rain jacket and boots
- Vest, jacket, and/or sweater
- Shoes (sperrys, sneakers, etc.) for walking around show grounds
- Half chaps (if needed for schooling)
- Leather care (saddle soap, sponges, etc.)
For the Horse and Stable:
- Saddle
- Bridle and Martingale
- Girth
- Show Pad
- Half pad and saddle pad (for jumpers, schooling, etc.)
- Front and/or back boots
- Earballs
- Bell boots
- Polo wraps
- Fly bonnet
- Cooler
- Blankets
- Rain sheet
- Hoof oil
- Showsheen
- Fly spray
- Brushes
- Standing wraps
- Liniment
- Shampoo, conditioner, vetrolin, sweat scraper, or other materials for bathing
