May 25, 2017 – San Juan Capistrano – The buzz is building for four weeks of special classes during the Blenheim EquiSports June Series at the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park at San Juan Capistrano. Blenheim is pleased to announce a new water jump in The Oaks International Grand Prix Field, which will replace the previous water obstacle. It will be a part of key competitions right from the start, such as the Zone 10 Team qualifiers for the North American Junior and Young Rider Championships (NAJYRC), helping those riders prepare for the NAJYRC Championships at the HITS-on-the-Hudson in Saugerties, July 18-23, 2017.
Look forward to this and more during the upcoming grand prix events spread throughout the four-week series, as the horses attempt the new water element as well as answer the rest of the questions asked on course by international designers such as Anderson Lima, Olaf Petersen, Jr., Ivan Tagle and Marina Azevedo.
More highlights coming this June include the $25,000 USHJA/WCHR West Coast Hunter Spectacular during June Classic I and the $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby held during June Classic II. June Classic III features the $10,000 Six Bar Challenge, presented by Park Place Foundation, and the American Tradition of Excellence Equitation Challenge, presented by Whitethorne, including a reception at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel.
The June Series will also feature qualifying classes for Young Hunters and Young Jumpers, Green Hunters, and for horses and riders looking to qualify for the Interactive Mortgage Horses 10 & Under Futurity, Markel Insurance 1.40m Grand Prix Series and Interactive Mortgage U25 Developing Rider Series. Valuable points for the plethora of season awards are also up for grabs.
Ponies also play a starring role during the June Series. During June Classic III, the West Coast Pony Hunter Challenge, presented by USHJA Zone 10, showcases the small, medium and large ponies in model, under saddle and over fence classes. A fun-filled week, pony kids can also participate in the Emerson Burr Horsemanship Quiz and an ice-cream social.
Just a reminder, we have gone green! The Summer Prize List is available online. Print copies will be available in the show office and can be sent to exhibitors upon request.
Special awards sponsored by Makoto Farm await top pony riders and owners after the final USHJA Pony Derby of the season during the Blenheim Red, White & Blue Classic.
We look forward to seeing everyone in sunny southern California this summer.
