TheraPlate Salutes Team USA’s Margie Engle and Royce for Two CSIO4* Victories in Langley, Canada

Langley, B.C. – June 9, 2017 – The Hermès U.S. Show Jumping Team is standing firm with a ticket to the Nations Cup™ Show Jumping Final in Barcelona (ESP) this September, thanks to a victory at the FEI Nations Cup CSIO4* Langley in British Columbia, Canada. Margie Goldstein-Engle, the only equestrian to hold the honor of being named American Grandprix Association Rider of the Year 10 times, helped Team USA secure the win on June 3. TheraPlate Revolution Therapy Platforms – the Official Therapy Plate of US Equestrian and an important part of Engle’s winning strategy – congratulates Engle and her Grand Prix mount Royce on their impressive performances in Langley.

Two days after helping the United States to the first place spot in the Nations Cup CSIO4*, Engle and Royce notched a 38.70-second win in the $130,000 ATCO Nations Finale 1.60m Grand Prix. It was their second victory in only days over Peter Holmes’ CSIO4* Langley courses at Canada’s Thunderbird Show Park for Engle and the 13-year-old stallion (Café au Lait x Petula, Grandilot). The champion equestrian is quick to share credit with Royce’s grooms, owner Gladewinds Partners, LLC, and TheraPlate Revolution.

“The TheraPlate seems to really help if horses’ feet are bothering them and also to loosen up tight muscles,” says the Olympic rider, who has won over 200 Grand Prix titles and Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals at the Pan American Games and the World Equestrian Games. “I’ve been riding Royce since he was seven. It felt great to be a part of such a strong team at the Nations Cup and help contribute to qualifying for the finals in Barcelona. When we are at our base in Wellington, Florida, all the Grand Prix horses including Royce go on the TheraPlate about five days a week. We’ve seen the benefits in all the horses we have used the TheraPlate on.”

TheraPlate platforms use dynamic movement to increase users’ circulation, reduce swelling, build muscle mass, speed the healing of injuries, and warm up or cool down before and after exercise. The TheraPlate keeps Engle’s star horses like Royce in peak condition to clear jump courses in record time.

Before Engle entered the ring, she and her team knew that competition in the FEI Nations Cup CSIO4* Langley would be fierce. USA chef d’equipe Robert Ridland expressed, “We knew coming here that this was going to be a free-for-all. Often it’s pre-determined who is going to Barcelona when you come to the last qualifier – not the case this time. The two teams who were going to make it, it was up to them to win it.”

It wasn’t looking optimistic from a U.S. perspective when the U.S. incurred 22 first-round faults, but when Engle and her partner of the last six seasons jumped clear, it put the team into the lead on a four-fault tally at the halfway point. In round two, and last to go, Engle and Royce had only a fence in hand as they entered the ring. When the vertical after the open water hit the dirt, the American supporters held their breath, but the U.S. veteran added nothing more to secure the winning team total of 13 faults.

“The most challenging part was just waiting to go,” Engle said. “I’m not sure who will be on the team for Barcelona, but if l am, l will take Royce. I’m planning on Spruce Meadows next, then Traverse City, and our future plan is to try to make the team next year for the World Equestrian Games.”

No matter what the future brings, TheraPlate is part of Engle’s plan. “We started using the TheraPlate a few years ago. The horses seem to really like it and feel very comfortable after being on it, especially for foot soreness. I haven’t had a chance yet to use it on myself, but my grooms have used it and they said it helps make them feel better, too!”

TheraPlate’s innovative, easy-to-use platforms are must-haves for elite equine athletes across the FEI disciplines. TheraPlate users enjoy such benefits as reduction of pain, increased muscle tone, and reduced risk of injury.
