Proceeds from the Horse Show Were Raised for Vista Center for the Visually Impaired
Menlo, Calif. August 16, 2017– The equestrian and surrounding Menlo Park communities gathered together for the Menlo Charity Horse Show Tuesday, August 8th through Sunday, August 13th, 2017. The event took place at the Menlo Circus Club.
The Menlo Charity Horse Show is one of the oldest and most recognized charity horse shows. Since its inception in 1970, the Menlo Charity Horse Show has focused its efforts on the legacy of philanthropy. Over the years, the Menlo Charity Horse Show has benefited many charitable partners, including Planned Parenthood and Amigos De Las Americas. This year, the Show’s charitable partner was the Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired (Vista Center).
The week was filled with nightly events that combined the excitement of show jumping with the best of entertainment. One event that is unique to the Menlo Charity Horse Show is the annual gala. This year, the Friday night gala theme was “Jazzed Up-San Francisco Style,” featuring Grammy-winning vocal artist Dianne Schurr. All proceeds from the Gala were donated to the Vista Center.
“The Menlo Charity Horse Show is honored to partner with Lindsay and her Charitable Fund,” said Co-Chair of The Menlo Charity Horse Show, Suzanne Rischman. “The generous contribution of the Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund enables hundreds of clients of The Vista Center to receive services specifically tailored to their vision needs. We are grateful for the relationship and even more delighted that we can also support Vista while advancing our beautiful equestrian sport.”
Donated by Lindsay Maxwell in honor of her retired horse, Widget, The Widget Perpetual Trophy celebrates Widget’s retirement from competition. The Trophy goes to the highest scoring single round in the Junior Hunter or Amateur Owner Hunter divisions. This year’s recipient of The Widget Perpetual Trophy was Hunter Siebel, with a high score of 92 aboard her junior hunter Boss.
“The Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund is proud to support the Menlo Charity Horse Show,” said Lindsay Maxwell. “The Menlo Charity Horse Show is one of the highlights of the west coast equestrian schedule, and is a wonderful example of partnership between the local community, a world-class equestrian event, and its charitable partners.”
