Olympic Riders Heading to Split Rock Jumping Tour’s Columbus Events Over 120 Riders from 13 Countries Set to Compete at Sold-Out CSI2* and CSI3* Competitions

Lexington, KY – September 26, 2017 – With entries sold out for both weeks, the Split Rock Jumping Tour’s (SRJT) two FEI Columbus horse shows are set to begin. Eight Olympians head an impressive list of over 120 riders with over 300 horses entered in the Columbus International 1 CSI2*, September 27-October 1, and Columbus International 2 CSI3*, October 4-8, at the new Brave Horse Show Park in Johnstown, Ohio.

Now in its third year, the SRJT is truly revolutionizing the sport of show jumping in the U.S. and creating an “Unparalleled Show Jumping Experience” for riders, owners, sponsors and spectators alike. SRJT’s top-notch competitions are again attracting top international riders and some of the biggest names in the sport.

Over 50 riders from 13 countries are entered in the FEI classes. In addition to the United States, nations represented are: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.

The line-up features U.S. Olympic veterans Leslie Burr-Howard, Team Gold medalist at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games and Team Silver medalist at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics; Peter Wylde, Team Gold medalist at the 2004 Athens Olympics; and Margie Goldstein-Engle, who competed at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and won the Leading Athlete award at the inaugural SRJT event in 2015. Joining them is Charlie Jayne, who was the reserve rider for the U.S. team at the 2012 London Olympics.

Other Olympic veterans competing at SRJT-Columbus include Venezuela’s Emanuel Andrade, a competitor at the 2016 Rio Olympics; Samuel Parot of Chile, who competed at the 2012 London Olympics;  Sharn Wordley of New Zealand, a competitor at the 2008 Beijing Olympics; and Mexico’s Santiago Lambre, who rode at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

Also entered are the riders who won Split Rock’s CSI3* Grand Prix the last two Octobers – 2016 Bourbon International CSI3* Champion Ilan Bluman of Colombia and U.S. rider Jonathan McCrea who won in 2015. McCrea’s wife, Christine McCrea, Individual and Team Gold medalist at the 2011 Pan American Games, is also entered and will be hot on their heels in a run for the prize money.

Schedule highlights for SRJT include:

Week 1: The Columbus International 1 CSI2* – September 27-October 1

The FEI rated classes include the $35,000 CSI2* 1.45m Hollow Creek Farm Welcome Class and the $50,000 Lugano Diamonds CSI2* Grand Prix.  There will be divisions ranging from .85m and up available for both weeks.

Week 2: The Columbus International 2 CSI3* – October 4-8

The FEI classes include the $35,000 CSI3* 1.45m Hollow Creek Farm Speed Cup, $40,000 Amalaya Investments CSI3* 1.50m Welcome Class and the $130,000 CSI3* 1.55m Split Rock Farm Grand Prix.

“Lugano Diamonds Party” with Bonus Private Concert

The highly anticipated SRJT social event, “The Lugano Diamonds Party,” will take place at Brave Horse on Friday evening, October 6.  Admission is $150 per person. Following the dinner, there will be a private concert, included in the dinner admission, by well-known country singer, Sam Riggs!

About Brave Horse Show Park

The new facility is a 75-acre premier equestrian showgrounds located minutes outside of Columbus in Johnstown, Ohio. The facility debuted its first hunter/jumper show season in 2016 and operated at capacity. The showgrounds feature a meticulously planned layout with 250 permanent stalls, each measuring 12’x12′, with 16′ aisle ways and a 20′ high ceiling. The expansive property includes multiple rings and riding areas and the Grand Prix Ring, one of two to be used for competition, is 250′ x 350′. All rings have state-of-the-art-footing and the Grand Prix ring features in-ground irrigation. The showgrounds also take advantage of the picturesque Ohio countryside, with expansive tree-lined vistas and water features throughout the grounds.
