Wellington, Florida – February 7, 2018 – The 2018 CP Palm Beach Masters Presented by Sovaro®, received rave reviews from riders, owners, trainers and virtually everyone after its spectacular week of world-class equestrian competition. The Masters offered nearly $400,000 in prize money and featured the $220,000 Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping Wellington, one of the final two East Coast qualifiers in the Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping North American League.
Located on Deeridge Farms’ picturesque 300-acre property in Wellington, Florida, the Palm Beach Masters offered unforgettable hospitality, unrivaled facilities and a world-class show grounds. The property boasts two masterfully-designed competition rings – a beautifully manicured, natural turf Grand Prix arena and an all-weather sand arena, both of which are by WestWind Surfaces. In addition, there are two Bermuda grass schooling arenas, one designated for FEI and the other for non-FEI competitors.
Stabling is situated alongside tranquil lagoons and pristine landscape which creates a relaxing and calming atmosphere, not only for horses, but also for exhibitors. The Taylor Harris Club, an exquisite two-story VIP club, featured unlimited culinary delicacies and attentive service with incredible views of both competition arenas.
Three-time British Olympic veteran and 2012 Olympic Team Gold Medalist, Ben Maher, winner of the $35,000 Sovaro® Palm Beach Masters Qualifier aboard Jane Clark’s Tic Tac, said, “It’s incredible here. The Jacobs family is doing so much to help the sport. We have some arenas like this in Europe, but this is unique in this country and, in my opinion, it’s a special treat to come here.”
Daniel Coyle of Ireland, who won the Masters’ featured event, the $220,000 Longines FEI World Cup Jumping Wellington, aboard Cita, owned by Ariel Grange, said, “This is an amazing event. The conditions could not be any better; the footing is perfect and being here is just a fantastic experience!”
“Everyone, including me and all of my clients, agree that this is the best and nicest event we go to all year,” said U.S. Olympic veteran Margie Engle who placed third in the World Cup class. “They do an amazing job with everything – the footing, the hospitality, everything. Two new awards, honoring Hunter Harrison and Sue Grange, two legendary figures in show jumping who passed away in 2017, were initiated and awarded during this year’s event. The Hunter Harrison award was presented to Ariel Grange, owner of the winning horse of the $220,000 Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping Wellington; and the Sue Grange award was presented to Jane Clark, owner of the winning horse of the $35,000 Sovaro® Palm Beach Masters Qualifier
The CP Palm Beach Masters CSI3*-W Presented by Sovaro® is part of the Palm Beach Masters Series. The Series also includes the Deeridge Derby, a USEF nationally-rated show where the nation’s most elegant hunter horses and ponies take center stage by invitation to compete in prestigious classes including the $5,000 USHJA National Open Hunter Derby, $5,000 USHJA Junior/Amateur Hunter Derby, $2,500 USHJA Pony Derby and the highly competitive $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby.
