Upperville, Va. – June 6, 2018 – The professional hunter divisions at the 2018 Upperville Colt & Horse Show (UCHS), presented by St. Bride’s Farm, concluded on Wednesday with Scott Stewart taking home the top honor of Grand Champion Hunter with Dr. Betsee Parker’s Lucador. They were presented with the Sallie J. Sexton Challenge Trophy, donated by Sallie’s family, after acquiring the greatest number of points in one or more of the rated hunter divisions. Additionally, Stewart also claimed the Leading Hunter Rider award and the Charlie Weaver Memorial Perpetual Trophy, donated by Pamela Vance, Brian Simonson and his friends and family, for his top finishes throughout the start of the 2018 UCHS. Erynn Ballard Brings Home 1.40m Open Jumper Blue with Zorran
It was down to the wire during the 1.40m Open Jumpers on Wednesday as Canada’s Erynn Ballard tried to solidify her name at the top of the leaderboard. While Ballard had seven entries in the class the odds were in her favor, and early on she sat first and second. Yet, Virginia’s Sloane Coles gave her a run for the money, taking over the lead towards the end. Not to be outdone, as the last to compete with Ilan Ferder’s Zorran, Ballard edged out Coles by one second for the blue ribbon. Click to read entire story.
