FEI Athletes Announced for Great Lakes Equestrian Festival Week IV CSI2* Competition

Traverse City, Mich. – July 26, 2018 – FEI competition at the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival (GLEF) continues during Week IV (July 25-29) with another FEI CSI2* rating.

International show jumping competition in the Grand Prix Ring begins on Thursday at the Flintfields Horse Park with the Staller 1.40m Jumper CSI2* class. Friday will highlight the $35,000 Devoucoux Welcome Stake CSI2*, while Sunday will feature the week’s most coveted prize, the $50,000 Flintfields Farm Grand Prix CSI2*, at 3 p.m.

Week IV will feature a total of 38 athletes and 56 horses from nine nations around the world, including the USA, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Ireland, Mexico, Uruguay, Argentina and Ecuador.

Returning to GLEF this week is Santiago Lambre of Mexico with his three top mounts Dingeman, Doloris and Ibabco. In his GLEF debut in 2017, Lambre took home three back-to-back FEI wins throughout Weeks III and Week IV in the $50,000 Great Lakes Grand Prix CSI2*, $35,000 Welcome Stake CSI2* and the Amalaya Investments $50,000 Flintfields Farm Grand Prix CSI2* with Dingeman and Doloris.

Also in attendance this week is U.S. Olympian and regular GLEF competitor Margie Engle with her veteran mount Indigo. Engle is arriving in Traverse City, Michigan, fresh off her win in the SAP-Prize speed class at the prestigious CHIO Aachen World Equestrian Festival on Sunday.

The 2018 GLEF will continue to host internationally ranked competition throughout the remainder of the circuit. For the first time ever, GLEF is hosting two consecutive CSI3* competitions during Weeks V and VI.

2018 Great Lakes Equestrian Festival Fast Facts:

What:
The Great Lakes Equestrian Festival (GLEF) is held annually in July and August at the Flintfields Horse Park in Williamsburg, Michigan, located just outside Traverse City. This six-week event hosts nationally and internationally rated hunter/jumper competition, featuring weekly classes and classics for children, junior, adult and amateur-owner riders. Each week, the festival also holds classes for young horses, open jumper classes and professional hunter derbies, culminating every Sunday with an exciting grand prix show jumping competition with some of the world’s top athletes.
