Throwback Thursday Trends We Miss: Thoroughbred Hunters

BY LAUREN MAULDIN

Okay let’s be real – for many of us, Thoroughbred hunters aren’t a thing of the past. My OTTB does triple duty as best friend, jumper (if I’m feeling brave) and hunter (when I manage to convince him that he’s not Ricky Bobby). Still, you can’t deny that the days where Thoroughbreds dominated the hunter ring are past us. Remember when they had “Non-Thoroughbred Hunter” divisions? Well now it’s the opposite, and programs like TIP and Take2 sponsor divisions to keep Thoroughbreds in the ring on the hunter/jumper circuit.

Whether you used to ride Thoroughbred hunters or still do, I bet we all can enjoy these Throwback Thursday pictures!
