Scrolling through Instagram earlier this year, I noticed the Equestrian Wellness account. I’m an equestrian, I appreciate wellness, so I clicked and scrolled and found myself on a website which hosted a vast array of all natural products.

Like a lot of people, I have become more conscious and aware of what I put in and around my body for both my personal health and the environment. I was eager and enthusiastic to connect with the owner of this company to see what she’s up to.

Founder Valerie Beslow gave me the run down on who she is, what her company is about, and her mission. With 100% natural and organic products that are gluten-free with no Parabens, sulfates, chemicals, and aren’t animal tested, Equestrian Wellness had tons of offerings I was excited to try.

Below are my absolute favorites and official “Plaid Horse Approved” Equestrian Wellness products!

Essential Helmet Spray

Helmet Spray – $14

Ingredients:  distilled water, distilled spirits, clove, cinnamon, lavender, lemon, lemongrass, rosemary & eucalyptus essential oils.

Valerie’s Helmet spray is divine, and I recommend it for anyone with or without a helmet. I have been using this all over my house, barn, and pets. I love the moment when I pull my helmet out of my trunk and catch the scents of lavender and hints of clove. I also keep a bottle on my nightstand and use it as a linen spray. I’ve even sprayed my dogs with this as puppy perfume! The smell is so luxurious. I wish it were a candle I could slowly burn in my house all day long.

Dry Shampoo

Dry Shampoo – $14

Ingredients:  arrowroot flour, non-GMO cornstarch, pure cacao powder, jasmine + vanilla essential oils.

Disclaimer: I. Love. Dry. Shampoos.

I’ve been committed to the aerosol kinds for years, and the guilt crept in any time I used it. I was apprehensive about this powder dry shampoo. Will it work the same? Is it messy? How do I apply it? The bottle this comes in serves as a “puffer” to “puff” the powder all along your roots. I have very fine blonde hair, so I was really curious how this powder with cocoa as an ingredient would work. Would it blend in? Would it turn my hair brown?

The answer is it blends in better than any dry shampoo I have ever used, smells delicious and gave my hair the most amazing texture, with such simple ingredients.

As a woman who struggles with fine limp hair – I have found my dry shampoo Holy Grail. If I can order a case of this stuff, I will. And I’m going to put it in everyone’s Christmas stocking this year along with the helmet spray! Also, this little bottle is lasting me FOREVER making the price point amazing.

Aloe + Rosewater Facial Mist

Rose and Aloe facial mist – $16

Ingredients:  organic aloe gel, vegetable glycerin, rosewater, jojoba oil, lavender essential oil, xanthan gum.

I’m loving storing this in my trunk and on my office desk. I like to take a face wipe after I ride to remove any arena dust from my face, and then liberally spray this all over my face and neck. It’s so refreshing and smells so delightful. As you can see, there’s a theme here. All the Equestrian Wellness products have amazing scents! This facial spray adds just the right amount of moisture back into my skin when I need it. I also keep this product an arm’s length away on my office desk to freshen and wake myself up when I am neck deep in spreadsheets. Helping me focus and keeping my skin hydrated! Winning…

Bergamot + Lemongrass Deoderant

Bergamot + Lemongrass Deodorant – $14

Ingredients:  organic coconut oil, raw shea butter, organic beeswax, sweet almond oil, vitamin e, bergamot, lemongrass + tea tree essential oils.

I know what you’re thinking, especially if you’ve never tried a natural deodorant or, worse, if you’ve had a terrible experience with one. There’s a few things I appreciate about this product, in order of importance

  1. I don’t stink. It works, for real.
  2. The scent is so interesting. It’s fresh, and unlike a typical baby powder smell that mainstream deodorants usually have.
  3. This product is so kind and soothing to my underarms!

The Bergamot + Lemongrass deodorant slowly became a favorite of mine. It took a few weeks, because I was unsure how I felt about the smell at first. But after weeks of use, it has truly grown on me – and I reach for this deodorant in my cabinet first, and the failed natural deodorants have found the trash bin.

Overall, I’m a huge fan. I think these products serve as beautiful useful gifts for your horse friends and non-horse friends alike!

Thank you Valerie, for introducing your brand into our lives at The Plaid Horse.
