Lake Placid, NY—July 5, 2019— Tomas Yofre of Argentina rode Kavalli Di Magico to the win in the $30,000 FarmVet Jumper Classic at the 2019 Lake Placid Horse Shows, Sponsored by Bainbridge Farms, LLC and Presented by Sea Shore Stables, LLC
After 16 of 34 entries rode clean over the 15-effort, first -round course designed by Bernardo Costa Cabral of Portugal, Peter Lutz set an early mark to beat with a clean ride over the eight-jump tiebreaker course, finishing clean in 38.176 seconds on Excellent. His lead held for nine rides till Ilan Bluman of Colombia finished clean in 37.889 seconds on J-Boston S.E.
Yofre, who rides with Missy Clark and John Brennan’s North Run, followed Bluman on course and used tight turns to shave time and claim the win with a clean ride in 37.321 seconds. “Missy and John had a good plan and the horse jumped amazing,” Yofre said. “The ground was really good and we were able to turn fast. I turned short to number 8 (third fence in the jump-off), a really big oxer, then turned tight to the combination, and then fast to the last vertical and then just went fast to the last fence. I’m thankful that it all worked out!”
Bluman finished second with Lutz third and two-time Olympic Silver medalist Anne Kursinski taking fourth with a clean jump-off ride in 38.742 seconds on UK.

Earlier in the day, Laura Chapot swept the top three places in the $1,500 Milagro Tequila 1.35m Jumper Class. Chapot won the class on Umberto while placing second on Little Firebird and taking third on Gideon.

Chapot also took three of the top five places in the $20,000 Deeridge Farms 1.40m Open Jumper Stake. Chapot topped a field of 34 horses by turning in two clean rides and a jump-off time of 33.150 seconds on Calafornia. She also placed third on Shooting Star and fifth on Zealous. Second place with a clean jump-off ride in 37.396 seconds was Cassandra Kahle on Elertina with fourth going to Tomas Yofre on Betagravin.
