Predictions for National Cups in European Football

Check our predictions for the Matches of the Portuguese Cup and the Italian Cup in the middle of the week.

Many think that you need to wait until the weekend to bet on European Football, but that’s not true. This middle of the week will be pretty interesting with lots of National Cup matches for you to place your wagers and make some money.

Thinking about those competitions, we prepared an article with predictions for three matches. Before we go to the tips, don’t forget to take a look at our author profile. You can see her, Kate Richardson, here.

Maritimo – Sporting

Starting with a football prediction for tomorrow, the match between Maritimo and Sporting is expected to be really interesting. The match from the round of 16 of the Portuguese Cup will be played at the Barreiros Stadium.

The team from Madeira Island is different since manager Milton Mendes arrived at the club and that started showing already in the Portuguese league. Now they are already in 8th place, really far from the relegation zone and with great chances of keeping in the first division next year.

Of course that won’t make the match easier. Sporting are the leaders of the Portuguese Liga NOS, 4 points ahead of the second place FC Porto. However, the hosts will try to use the fact that they are playing at home to surprise the Lions and maybe leave the pitch with the qualification to the next round.

It is not impossible for that to happen, but honestly very improbable. Sporting have won 9 from their last 10 matches, showing what a great moment they are living. That is why our bet is on Sporting winning the match and qualifying for the next round.

CF Estrela – Benfica

Another match for the round of 16 of the Portuguese Cup. This Tuesday, Estrela Amadora will welcome Benfica in the Jose Gomes Stadium.

CF Estrela are a team from the third division of the Portuguese League and are doing very good in the competition so far. They are part of Group G and are the leaders of it, with very good chances of going to the second division next season.

In order to reach the round of 16 of the Portuguese Cup, Rui Santos’ men beat Anadia by 1-0 in the beginning of December. Now, they will have a much more difficult confrontation against one of the big teams from Portugal.

Benfica are in 3rd place in the Portuguese League and, even though their results are not that bad, they have been suffering a lot of criticism from their fans and also from the press. It doesn’t matter what their past results were, it is clear that the Eagles are the favorites for this confrontation.

Due to that, the Moneyline market is not such a good option because the odds are too low. However, a good opportunity could be the goal market. Thinking about the last matches of both clubs, under 2.5 goals is a good bet.

Fiorentina – Inter Milan

Now traveling to Italy, a match for the round of 16 of the Italian Cup. Fiorentina will welcome Inter Milan next Wednesday and we expect it to be a very interesting match, with a lot of excitement.

Even though Fiorentina didn’t lift the cup for a long time, the last one being in 2001, they are a traditional club in the competition, having won it 6 times already. This season, they have already played two rounds of the Cup, beating Padoa by 2-1 and Udinese by 1-0 after the extra time. In the Italian Serie A, they are in the middle of the table, in 12th place with 18 points.

Inter Milan, on the other hand, still didn’t play the Italian Cup this season, but they are also a really traditional club in the competition. They lifted the trophy 7 times, being the last one in 2011. In the Serie A TIM, the club is having a very good moment, being in second place, just three points behind the leader, AC Milan.

Thinking about the good sequence of Internazionale, with 8 victories in their last 11 matches, and the bad moment of Fiorentina, who just got 1 victory in their last 12 matches, we believe that the visitors will win this match. Because of that, our bet is on the Moneyline market, betting on Inter Milan’s victory.

If you wish to choose just one market for all the three matches, you could choose both the Moneyline of the Goal markets. In the Moneyline, we would bet on Benfica’s victory. And in the Goal market we would put over 2.5 goals in both Sporting and Inter Milan’s matches.
