Not Your Ordinary Day at the Fair

“Horses have the power to bring us joy and join us together.”

That’s the message the Schuster Foundation, which works to enrich the lives of children from disadvantaged neighborhoods in Baltimore, promoted following its special event at the Maryland State Fair.

The Foundation partners with five farms to teach Baltimore’s children to ride and care for horses, and on Aug. 31, they partnered with Good to Go Farm to bring eight riders to the Maryland State Fair.

The inspiring event saw eight children, assisted by volunteers, outfitted in show clothes paired and given their own personal horse show. They groomed and tacked, modeled and jogged, walked and trotted.

After the equine activities were finished, the riders got a full tour of the fair, getting up close and personal with farm animals, from hatching chicks and ducklings to dairy cows, llamas and piglets—followed by fair rides.
