We didn’t see this one coming.
After three years of marriage, international show jumper Karl Cook and show jumper/actress Kaley Cuoco, widely known for her role as Penny in the popular TV program, The Big Bang Theory, have announced their separation.
“Despite a deep love and respect for one another, we have realized that our current paths have taken us in opposite directions,” Cook and Cuoco said in a joint statement. We have both shared so much of our journey publicly so while we would prefer to keep this aspect of our personal life private, we wanted to be forthcoming in our truth together. There is no anger or animosity, quite the contrary.”
Cook and Cuoco began dating in 2016 and were married two years later. The couple’s relationship was incredibly public, particularly on social media, and they appeared a brilliant match.
“We have made this decision together through an immense amount of respect and consideration for one another,” their statement said, “and request that you do the same in understanding that we will not be sharing any additional details or commenting further.”
Cook is focusing on developing his string of horses at Pomponio Ranch and competing from coast to coast across the U.S. Cuoco, meanwhile, has been incredibly successful in Hollywood post-Big Bang with her Yes, Norman Productions, working on projects like the animated series Harley Quinn and the comedy-drama series The Flight Attendant, for which she received two Golden Globe nominations. Cuoco also showed with Cook this spring at Upperville and Kentucky.
We wish them the best as they navigate this phase of their relationship.
