The Plaid Horse will have a booth at the IEA 20th Anniversary Combined National Finals at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, PA. The show will run from April 28 through May 1, 2022 and will host the national finals for three disciplines: hunt seat, dressage and western.

The Interscholastic Equestrian Association offers a team riding format for students in grades 4-12, with competition split by middle/upper school, and team/individual competition. Teams compete at shows during the regular season, working to gain points to qualify for regional championships. Riders that advance then compete at the zone level, with top performers securing places at the National Finals.

At the 2022 IEA Nationals, The Plaid Horse will be distributing copies of The Plaid Horse magazine, offering free stickers and bookmarks, and giving exhibitors and spectators the opportunity to purchase the Show Strides book series and Geoff Teall on Riding Hunters, Jumpers and Equitation: Develop a Winning Style. Show Strides is The Plaid Horse’s own series of horse novels about riding, showing, horsemanship, and friendships created as equestrians. Show Strides is a middle grade novel series but is entertaining for readers of all ages.

Exhibitors and spectators can also meet Dr. Piper Klemm, publisher of The Plaid Horse magazine and co-author of the Show Strides book series. Speak with Dr. Klemm about The Plaid Horse and learn more about her online college courses that cover topics in equestrian coaching, business, and history.

“The IEA is such an inclusive organization—not only does it create great riding opportunities, but they also further educate these young riders and to help prepare them for their futures,” says Dr. Klemm. “It’s great to see IEA continue to grow and improve each year, and I am so excited to come support.”
