[LEXINGTON, Ky.] – Alltech’s Lifeforce™ line of premium equine supplements is proud to announce a partnership with Ryan Sassmannshausen, the head trainer and chief operating officer at Kinvarra Farm, a family-run equestrian business established in 1984.
“We are delighted to partner with Ryan,” said Tim Karl, director of Alltech’s lifestyle and companion animal business. “As an elite equestrian, he has a deep understanding of the benefits that Lifeforce premium supplements provide his horses and the related contributions made to their outstanding performance.”
“Lifeforce delivers my horses with the exact nutrients they need to perform at the highest level,” said Sassmannshausen. “My personal favorite is Elite Performance. It is an all-in-one, easy-to-feed supplement that has produced great coats, hoof and tail growth, muscle development and all-around happy horses! It is also extremely palatable, so the horses love it, and I have never found any left after a meal.”
Sassmannshausen learned how to ride from his mother, Janet, who founded Kinvarra Farm and trained many prestigious professionals, including Chris Kappler, Maggie Gould, Morgan and Nora Thomas, Maggie Jayne, Larry Gleife, Kelley Farmer and Missy Clark.
Under Sassmannshausen’s leadership, Kinvarra Farm has become a dominant force at A- and AA-rated horse shows throughout the U.S. Kinvarra Farm riders have been extremely successful, claiming many championships on the regional and national levels, with wins at the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), Kentucky Horse Park, Traverse City, Showplace Productions (Ledges Series) and the Capital Challenge, among others.
One of the many highlights of Sassmannshausen’s career is winning the $10,000 Alltech Lifeforce Hunter Derby at Showplace Production’s Ledges. That win capped off an amazing summer with client-owned Rosalita, a proud Lifeforce consumer who claimed victories in six of eight national derbies in 2021, along with numerous championships.
Last year also brought great results for Sassmannshausen in the jumper ring. At WEF, he earned many high placings in the 1.40-meter and 1.45-meter open jumpers and ribboned in the 1.50-meter National Prix. During the summer, he placed in many Grands Prix at Lamplight Equestrian Center. He was also the gold-medal winner in Traverse City for the Zone 5 Team Championship.
Outside of showing, Sassmannshausen is especially dedicated to teaching and modeling the fundamentals of horsemanship and providing an environment that builds passion and enjoyment for every aspect of the industry. He is also heavily involved with the daily operations at Kinvarra Farm, including nutrition management.
“I believe that our industry should be treated like a real sport,” Sassmannshausen said. “I am an athlete. I train my body. I work vigorously to develop a strong and clear mental mindset. I set clear goals. Finally — and most importantly — I have become intensely aware of the food and nutrients I consume. I have seen life-changing differences and have adapted this ideology for my horses and program. A key change I have made is adding Lifeforce products to the diets of some of my top-performance horses. I have seen great improvement in their overall turnout and general wellness.”
