After successfully launching its first jumper performance shirt, Dusk last spring, Essex Classics began fielding questions from hunter riders.
“Can we have some color, too?”
Essex Classics Founder Cathy Sacher has always modeled her brand and business around serving equestrian’s needs, so she once again sprung into action.
This fall, Essex Classics will launch its first performance shirt designed for the hunter ring—with a pop of color. “Luna” is available now for pre-order, with shirts expecting to ship in September, just in time for the indoor show season.
“Essex Classics has never been about trends. It’s been important to me to be true to our brand and maintain tradition with our white shirts,” Sacher said. “But hunter riders started asking me for color. I wanted to make that happen for them, but I also knew it had to be subtle. I’m thrilled at the result and can’t wait to see riders wearing Luna in the show ring, starting this fall.”
Luna is made with the same performance moisture-wicking fabric and under-sleeve mesh ventilation as Dusk, but its elegantly styled silhouette, with a white panel front and white collar and cuffs, characterize the design.
Under a show coat, Luna hides its full-color body, maintaining the tradition that has long-defined the style of the hunter and equitation divisions. When worn on its own, it offers a flattering feminine fit and has a better chance of staying clean throughout the day.
“Working with horses can wreak havoc on white show shirts. The stain resistant finish on our white talent yarn shirts certainly helps, but white presents a hazard of getting dirty fast. A color shirt is much more forgiving.” Sacher said.
Luna will launch in five colors—Black, Dark Grey, Sky Blue, Light Purple, Burgundy—and with a variety of Essex Classics’ iconic trim designs in the interior. The shirt will be available in both long and short sleeves and in Ladies and Girls sizes.
