
As the summer ends, so has half of 2022. But there are still plenty of horse racing events throughout the fall and winter. Some of the most must-see racing events of the year still haven’t happened. If you’re invested in upcoming races or want to get involved for the first time, we’ll cover everything you need to keep an eye on for 2022. We’ll go chronologically, from early October to late December. If you’re particularly interested in betting on horse races, knowing about them in advance can help plan out bets and familiarize yourself with the competition. It can be a bit of an arduous task given the number of providers and review sites out there. A common feature of comparison sites is that they tend to specify which providers are best for each sport. October 7-8 — 2022 Dubai Future Champions Festival
Located in Sandown Park in Surrey, England, the Dubai Future Champions Festival features two days of high-action racing and other entertainment opportunities. Racehorse parades, style competitions, and children’s activities make the festival a good choice for the whole family. The Dubai Future Champions Festival will also feature bet365 Fillies’ Mile, Darley Dewhurst Stakes, and Cesarewitch Handicap races.
21-22 October — The Showcase 2022
Located in Gloucester, England, at Cheltenham Racecourse, The Showcase prides itself on its commitment to sustainability in its races. With a two-day schedule packed with races of all kinds. From hurdle races to pony races to steeple chases, the showcase showcases many possibilities for horseracing fans.
5 November— 2022 Boyle Sports Autumn Raceday
The Boyle Sports Autumn Raceday focuses on seasonal flair in its atmosphere. The daylong event will take place in Aintree, Liverpool, England, and feature its iconic Grand Sefton Chase over the Grand National Fences. Though it’s only one day, it’s packed with activities. One can also sign up for a hospitality package and view the race from a prime location with provided food and drinks.
11-13 November — The November Meeting 2022
The November Meeting is the only race on this list that spans three days. Each day has its memorable name. The 11th is Countryside Day and will feature both Hurdles and Chases, one of which qualifies the winner for the Challenger Staying Hurdle Series Final. The 12th is “Paddy Power Day” and features Hurdles, Chases, and an NH Flat Race. Sunday’s final day of races also features Hurdles, Chases, and an NH Flat Race. The Meeting also features a “November Lounge,” which offers a paid bar, complimentary tea and coffee, and betting facilities.
2-3 December — 2022 Betfair Tingle Creek Festival
The Betfair Tingle Creek Festival is also at Sandown Park in Surrey. It features a constant stream of top-class jump races and a two-mile Novice’s hurdle headlining its Friday events. The Henry VIII Novice’s Chase and Betfair Tingle Creek Chase are on the second day. The screen will show Sandown Park and Aintree events for a full double-headed event schedule.
9-10 December — The International 2022
The International, located at Cheltenham Racecourse in Gloucestershire, England, is heralded as one of the highlights in the Christmas racing calendar. It kicks off the racing season and features many must-see jumps races. For example, featured jumps include Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase, Unibet Handicap Steeple Chase, Unibet International Hurdle, and The International Gold Cup. But, of the must-see events, The International is up there.
15 December — Christmas Raceday at Exeter
While Christmas Raceday doesn’t take place exactly on Christmas, it’s an excellent way to get more invested in the Christmas season races. The events are still TBA and pending, so if you’re interested, you should continue to check on the event schedule as it’s updated. If you’re interested in the Raceday, it takes place at Exeter Racecourse in Devon, England. Standard tickets are just £20, so check it out.
26-27 December — 2022 Ladbrokes Christmas Festival
Right after Christmas is the Ladbrokes Christmas Festival, which is the perfect way to wrap up one’s holiday festivities. Located at the Kempton Park Racecourse in Surrey, England, the Ladbrokes Christmas Festival boasts 12 high-quality races over its two-day run. The featured races include King George VI Steeple Chase, Mare’s Handicap Hurdle Race, Wayward Lad Novices’ Steeple Chase, and The Desert Orchid Chase. Its events are some of the most significant on the entire calendar, so it’s worth heading over if you can make time in your schedule.
27 December — 2022 Coral Welsh Grand National
The Coral Welsh Grand National is the biggest welsh racing day on the calendar, scheduled to take place after boxing day each year. Located at Chepstow Racecourse in Chepstow, Wales, the Coral Welsh Grand National has a history spanning over fifty years. The principal, three-quarter mile race is firmly established in the horse racing canon as a significant event in the National Hunt Calendar.
