September 2022 — Set on one of Southwest Florida’s most picturesque spots, TerraNova Equestrian Center in Myakka City provides a beautiful setting for all levels in a range of equestrian disciplines. The world-class facility plays host to top international, national, and regional competitions in a family-friendly atmosphere with spectacular amenities.
Opened in 2020, TerraNova is a family passion project and the result of the vision and hard work of Hannah Herrig Ketelboeter, her husband Zach, and her parents Steve and Natalee Herrig. The Ketelboeters had been dedicated equestrian competitors for years, and they wanted to create a top-of-the-line equestrian training and event center.
The original phase of the 225-acre equestrian center included an arena and facilities to host national and international events, including eventing, hunter-jumper, dressage, and driving. TerraNova has seen great success in its first two years, and the family is now expanding the facility.
B&D Builders, an Amish firm based in Pennsylvania, built the first phase of the TerraNova facility. It was an easy decision to bring them back to tackle this new project. The full-service custom commercial and residential builder has an unmatched reputation for building high-quality barns and equine facilities.

“We want to provide the best experience possible to everyone who comes through the gate,” says Hannah Herrig Ketelboeter, TerraNova president. “B&D has been integral to providing quality buildings to deliver a world-class experience to everyone, from those competing in their first show all the way up to Olympic competitors.”
“We were honored to be brought back to work on the TerraNova expansion,” says Daniel Glick, B&D Builders co-owner. “The initial phase was an excellent showcase of the quality and craftsmanship we pride ourselves on and resulted in a unique, outstanding equine facility. We are excited to be part of TerraNova’s continued growth.”
The project includes two new luxurious competition barns, each outfitted with high ceilings for cooling airflow, as well as a speaker system and TVs in each aisle. The intent is to create a space that feels like home and provides the best experience for horses and humans alike. Each barn has 136 stalls, handmade by B&D, that all include a special stall mattress system.

“Everything we do is custom,” explains Glick. “We work closely with our clients to ensure we are best applying our expertise to capture their vision. We work together on every detail from the color and the wood species to the design of the roof. Every detail has been customized.”
In addition to the new barns, the TerraNova expansion also includes a pavilion with an open-air roof and booths for judges and announcers. The pavilion and barns are expected to be completed in October of 2022. A new show office with an inviting lobby and office space will start construction in late fall.
