Balcomb Benefits from BoneKare for Top ShowJumping Mounts

Lauren Balcomb’s career in the saddle began in her native country of Australia, but the eventer-turned-showjumper has been making a name for herself in the United States since her big move in 2015. Flying five horses and her entire life across the globe, Balcomb made the move to the states where she first settled into longtime friend and fellow eventer Boyd Martin’s training facility. From there, Balcomb spent the winter with fellow countryman and Olympic Gold Medalist Scott Keach. Keach perked her interest in the show jumping scene and soon Balcomb was hooked thanks to Keach and Sharn Wordley – whom she now calls fiance.

Despite juggling full-time motherhood, an equally-busy equestrian partner, and transitioning to a new discipline, she earned her first FEI grand prix win against a competitive field in 2022 at the World Equestrian Center – Ocala. Balcomb’s grand prix-winning partner, Verdini d’Houtveld, has been steadily rising the ranks as her top mount and she contributes much of his health and wellness to the benefits he receives from BoneKare.

“I think all our horses benefit from the product,” she stated. “ I first heard about BoneKare when Sharn [Wordley] started using it on his Grand Prix horse Barnetta. I also rode him on a daily basis so I noticed a difference and improvement in how he felt.”

Balcomb’s storied history includes not only eventing in her background, but also pony club and dressage, so she is well-versed on the physical demands of horses competing in multiple different disciplines.

“Our main objectives are to help ease arthritis pain in our older horses, and increase bone strength and prevent any potential inflammation and injuries throughout our string as a whole,” explained Balcomb.

Having already had the opportunity to represent Australia in 2022 at a Nations Cup event and with high hopes of an olympic opportunity in her future, Balcomb believes BoneKare is a key ingredient to getting her there.
