Evie Tumlin Memorial Fund Grants To Adult Amateurs from Region 9

The Dressage Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of the Evie Tumlin Memorial Fund Grants for Region 9 Adult Amateurs, Gerlinde Beckers (LA) and Meredith Hunter (LA).  The purpose of the Evie Tumlin Memorial Fund is to provide grants to Adult Amateur riders who currently reside in USDF Region 9, to aid in their development in dressage and/or eventing.  Each recipient will receive a $500 grant.

Gerlinde Beckers is a member of the Southern Eventing and Dressage Association and competes with her Connemara pony in both dressage and eventing. She was recognized as Volunteer of the Year in 2021 by her GMO, is a USDF gold medalist, and is a USDF “L” Education Program graduate. She plans to use her grant funding to attend a clinic with Lendon Gray in advance of her attending a D4K TEAM Clinic.

Gerlinde said, “The grant provided by TDF will provide me with the opportunity to train with the legendary equestrian, Lendon Gray. I will be forever grateful.”

Meredith Hunter is a member of the Southern Eventing and Dressage Association and rides her Irish Sport Horse, Parker, in both eventing and dressage. Meredith is a USDF bronze medalist and is currently training toward Fourth Level.

Meredith said, “I am beyond excited to be awarded a grant from the Evie Tumlin Memorial Fund. I have been dreaming of doing a musical freestyle with my horse Parker for years and with this grant, I will attend a freestyle clinic with Yvonne Barteau. Parker and I are both ready to put on our dancing shoes! Thank you so much to The Dressage Foundation, the donors, and the committee for this opportunity.”

Evie Tumlin was an integral part of her Region 9 dressage and eventing community. Throughout her years of serving and helping others, she touched many lives and helped to raise several generations of young men and women who loved horses. This Fund was established in memory of Evie by her friends and colleagues in Region 9.  Grants are for educational experiences that will further the applicant’s knowledge of dressage and are in addition to the applicant’s typical training plan. The grant application deadline is March 1^st of each year.
