As the 2023 USEF Pony Finals in Lexington, KY comes to a close, one final competition remains – the 2023 USEF Pony Medal
The Pony Medal takes place on Sunday, August 13 in the Alltech Arena at Kentucky Horse Park. The medal begins at 7:00 am Eastern Daylight Time and an expected 186 riders will compete.
Junior riders across all pony sizes and experience are eligible to compete in the Pony Medal as long as they qualified during the qualifying period and fall into the correct age category per the pony’s height.
For reference, riders under twelve-years of age may rider small pony hunters, fourteen-years of age for medium pony hunters, and under eighteen-years of age for large pony hunters.

The youngest rider in the competition is eight-years-old while the oldest is eighteen-years-old. 25% of the riders are age twelve, quickly followed by eleven-year-olds which make up nearly 20% of the class.
