CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Black in the Saddle and 4DaSoil are proud to announce a new fiscal sponsorship partnership that will expand opportunities for Black equestrians through collaborative programming, resource development, and increased access to philanthropic funding.
The partnership brings together two organizations committed to cultivating thriving communities through care, collaboration, and long-term investment. By serving as Black in the Saddle’s fiscal sponsor, 4DaSoil provides the nonprofit infrastructure that will enable the organization to pursue grants and receive tax-deductible charitable contributions while preserving the community-centered approach that defines both organizations.
“Our organizations share a belief that communities thrive when they have both resources and relationships,” said Abriana Johnson, Founder of Black in the Saddle. “This partnership gives us the capacity to pursue larger opportunities while remaining connected to the people we serve. Together, we’re creating the conditions for Black horsefolks to access funding, share knowledge, preserve our stories, and imagine new possibilities for the future of our community.”
Together, Black in the Saddle and 4DaSoil will work to develop initiatives that increase access to educational opportunities, leadership development, community gatherings, storytelling, and collaborative learning experiences while strengthening the infrastructure needed to sustain this work for generations to come.
Beyond expanding funding opportunities, the organizations envision creating spaces where Black equestrians, land stewards, educators, artists, entrepreneurs, and community leaders can learn alongside one another, exchange knowledge, and build relationships rooted in trust, reciprocity, and shared purpose.
“As we invest in Black equestrian communities, we are also investing in the broader ecosystems they are part of,” Johnson added. “Our stories, our relationships to land and animals, and our collective wisdom deserve spaces where they can grow, connect, and be sustained.”
The partnership marks an important milestone in Black in the Saddle’s evolution and reflects both organizations’ commitment to moving at the speed of trust, building thoughtfully, collaboratively, and with care.
Organizations, foundations, sponsors, and community partners interested in supporting Black in the Saddle’s mission are invited to connect and explore opportunities for collaboration through this new partnership.
