Guidelines for Unsolicited Photographers
The Plaid Horse invites amateur and professional photographers to submit photo pages for consideration in print issues.
Guidelines for Unsolicited Photographers
Photos will be considered of horse shows, clinics, events, parties, galas, fundraisers, dressage, western (with helmets only), IHSA, NCEA, IEA, schooling shows, IDA, polo, and select photo shoots (all mounted riders must be wearing helmets).
To submit, please email 8-12 High Resolution photos (using any traditional file sharing service for sharing large images and photos – we prefer Google Drive) to Piper@theplaidhorse.com and Editor@theplaidhorse.com and include in the email:
- Name of Horse Show
- Date of Horse Show
- Equestrian location of Horse Show (e.g. Kentucky Horse Park)
- City, State of Horse Show
- Captions for Photos
- How you would like to be credited
- Logo if you would like included on page
- Your mailing address and how many copies you would like of the magazine if printed
Please email Subscriptions@theplaidhorse.com prior to the printed issue deadline Deadlines can be found at theplaidhorse.com/advertise
Please note that photo collections should all be taken by the same photographer (or main photography company) and of the same event.
They are reviewed as a collection, although not all photos may end up being placed in the final layout.
Photos must be:
- Taken by you or your photography company
- Taken within 4-6 weeks of submission date
Reasons why photo pages can be excluded:
- Riders not wearing helmets
- Event occurred too long ago
- Photos low resolution
- Multiple events in same submission
- Unclear as to what event it is
- No captions or info accompanying photos
- Timing is off for jumping photos
- Not enough variety in the jumps/horses/riders in the submitted photos
- You miss the issue deadline – theplaidhorse.com/advertise
