Phipps Equine Consulting, LLC, a premier consultancy specializing in the equine sector, has announced a new suite of services catering to the growing industry and its evolving needs. Founder Will Phipps’ repertoire expands to include Owner’s Representation Construction Services for equestrian properties, which joins his wide range of offerings for business, organization, and personal growth and management.
Through horse show and sponsorship support, Phipps Equine Consulting is also continuing to increase the bandwidth of fan engagement and brand interaction. A newly arranged partnership with Equestrian Event, Inc. (EEI) and Major League Show Jumping, in anticipation of The Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event and Kentucky International CSI5* Grand Prix, highlights Phipp’s desire to cultivate the entertainment culture of the sport.
“I am excited to support EEI with the Defender Five Star as we continue shaping sponsorships, activations, and meaningful upgrades,” Phipps says, “Working with EEI and Major League Show Jumping, alongside some of the top sponsors in the sport, allows us to elevate an event that is already exceptional. Our aim is to honor its tradition while adding thoughtful touches that welcome a broader audience, support our sponsors, and give every patron a memorable experience, from the seasoned owner to the person who saves all year just to be there.”
Meanwhile, facilitating equine business growth has led Phipps to work on several independent collaborations with industry figures on product innovation, targeted marketing strategies, and operational consulting–most notably with World Champion Hunter and Hall of Fame rider Louise Serio on the development of The CrownCue™, a training aid designed to improve communication between horse and rider.
Phipps’ latest role as an Owner’s Rep is modeled after the upward trend of equestrian participation across all disciplines, at all levels. The exponential rise is bolstering the number of private, public, and institutional facilities being built and renovated nationwide; Phipps Equine Consulting’s expansion of services mirrors the natural evolution of moderate to high-end equine infrastructure.
“In the past year, I’ve received an influx of questions about equestrian-related construction design, layout, installation, and oversight,” says Phipps, who spent a decade doing business development consulting for commercial horse transportation company, Brook Ledge, and served as Relationships Manager for luxury equestrian contractors, B&D Builders, before turning his full attention to his private consulting firm.
“There are more people than ever getting involved in horse sports, trying to figure out–on all levels–how to house their horses, how to build and take care of a facility, and how to approach the design functionally.”
Based in West Grove, PA, Phipps Equine Consulting employs a hybrid approach to business assignments. From moderating weekly construction meetings virtually to on-site visits to supervise building and design, Phipps says, “My level of involvement is solely up to the client. I’m available as much or as little as they need me.”
An involved community member in the realms of show jumping, Thoroughbred horse racing, and fox hunting, Phipps understands the value of time as a resource. Part of the Owner’s Rep system means integrating into a trusted part of his client’s team, not only advocating on behalf of them and their horses, but also being a knowledgeable point of reference over the duration of the construction project–having the hard conversations so his clients can return their energy and focus to what really matters: the horses.
“Time is money for all of us, and especially industry professionals who have practically every moment of their day booked for business,” says Phipps. At every turn of the process, he protects the client’s goals for the property, prioritizes layouts with long-term effectiveness, and maximizes efficiency during the build so construction is completed correctly, on schedule, and within the budget.
“When working with Phipps Equine Consulting, clients walk away with value added,” Phipps explains, “They save dramatically more money, time, and the prevention of future issues than our services cost them.”
Phipps’ allied approach to consulting is collective-minded. He places emphasis on leveraging his growing network of contacts in all corners of the horse world. Once you’re a client, you’re always a client and a friend. A highlight for Phipps is seeing that pipeline develop:
“Being able to help people make a difference and have long-standing relationships makes me feel useful,” he says, “And I make a point to surround myself with people who are like-minded, and who also have the intention of serving the industry, so we all can learn from each other to navigate challenges.”
Phipps draws on trusted advisors when the moment calls for it, including Ross Peddicord, former executive director of the Maryland Horse Industry Board, who now consults with PEC on select projects.
In addition to his consulting work, Phipps continues to serve in leadership and advisory roles across the industry. He is a board member of Green is the New Blue, #BringYourOwn, the Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation (TERF) Safety and Education Committee, and the Racetrack Chaplaincy of New York Division, which supports backstretch workers. He is also the past president of the Fair Hill Foundation, where he helped guide the growth and preservation of one of the sport’s most important venues.
From his active position on these industry boards, Phipps maintains an acute awareness of the logistics and everyday realities of horse care and ownership.
