North Salem, NY – September 19, 2024 — For the second consecutive week at the Old Salem Farm September Horse Shows, Holly Orlando of Wellington, FL, earned the Grand Hunter Championship following her successful performances in multiple hunter divisions. She and Morera Equine LLC’s Symbolique earned the most points of any hunter division in the Performance 3’3” Hunter to bring home the tricolor for Week 2.
“This wonderful horse, Symbolique, is a 9-year-old horse owned by Morera Equine LLC and ridden by Erin Morera in the Adult 3’3” Amateurs, depending on the week,” Orlando said. “She’s off to school now, so the horse does a little double duty with Erin and Michael Andrade, who rides for us. I’m very happy with how it went this week; I actually hadn’t ridden the horse before Tuesday. I jumped him over a few jumps, got to know him, then showed him yesterday and today. He’s a blast. When I first came out of the ring, I said, ‘What a fun horse.’
“The courses here have been really fun and straightforward,” she added. “This horse is very easy. He tries hard, he’s careful, and he was really, really good in the handy today. He’s just a good, all-around guy, and I’m very happy with him and the rest of our horses these last two weeks.”
Orlando also brought home the championships in the Performance 3’6”/High Performance 4’ Hunter with James Anderson’s Soane and Green 3’ Hunter with Sheena Firestone’s Creed, who earned the Grand Hunter Championship during Week 1.
Joining Orlando in the winner’s circle was Peter Lutz of Waccabuc, NY, riding Libertas Farm LLC’s Rimaro to the Combined Green 3’3”/3’6”/3’9” Hunter Championship. The Adult Amateur hunters also got their first chance to shine in the Hedge and June Road rings in the afternoon, with their division championships to be crowned on Friday.
