Torano and Good Mood Semilly Win Series’ Leading Rider and Leading Horse Awards
Edited Press Release
Lexington, KY – October 29, 2025 – The Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) created a beautiful backdrop for the 2025 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series Finals, which were held on Saturday, October 25. Claiming top honors were Mary Rose Canterbury of Houston, TX, in the $20,000 SJHOF 1.45 m Final and JJ Torano of Wellington, FL, in the $15,000 SJHOF 1.35 m Final.
The Show Jumping Hall of Fame conducts its Jumper Classic Series with classes at approximately 80 horse shows each year. The Series hosts classes for junior and amateur riders at both 1.40-1.45 m and 1.30-1.35 m in two Conferences – the East Conference presented by Rood & Riddle and the West Conference presented by LEG Colorado Horse Shows. The Series culminated in West Conference Championship Finals for both divisions at Temecula Valley National Fall 3 in Temecula, California, and the overall Series Finals for both divisions at the Washington International Horse Show in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
The winners of the two 1.45 m Finals each receive one of LAURACEA’s best-selling backpacks, and all four Finals winners receive complimentary admission to the Hall of Fame’s annual Induction Ceremony and Awards Gala in Wellington in March, during which they are honored for their achievements.
Both Finals at Washington featured courses designed by Nick Granat (USA), whose challenging tracks proved the perfect tests for each horse-and-rider combination. In the $20,000 SJHOF 1.45 m Final, only Canterbury tripped the timers with a faultless first round, bringing home the win aboard 5C Ranch and Minerals LLC’s 11-year-old Selle Français mare Extase Ste Hermelle.
Jole Kosloske of Tampa, FL, finished second riding her 10-year-old Swedish Warmblood mare Crystal Claire. Torano rounded out the podium with Jet Show Stable’s 15-year-old Hanoverian gelding Vitus K.
“I went in seventh in the order, so I didn’t really get to watch anyone else go,” Canterbury said. “But I did manage to watch the 1.35m, which had the same initial course. I knew it was challenging enough, so I really just focused on giving my mare a confident ride. She tried so hard every single jump. I didn’t expect to be the only clear; I thought there would be a couple of others after me, so I immediately started making my jump-off plans. Luckily, I was able to give my horse the extra rest.
“I’ve been jumping the 1.45m for about two years now,” she continued. “I’ve done a couple of the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Classics, but I’ve never been able to win one. It’s nice to finally win one, especially at Washington of all places.”

Six entries advanced to the jump-off in the $15,000 SJHOF 1.35m Final, where Torano piloted Jet Show Stable’s 9-year-old Holsteiner mare Oopsala to the fastest double-clear score in 33.54 seconds. Kosloske earned another second place in 33.71 seconds aboard her 9-year-old Zangersheide mare Galadermie PP Z. Maggie King of Spring, TX, and her 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare Olily Van D’ Abelendreef tripped the timers in 43.79 seconds for third.

Additionally, the Series recognizes each conference’s Leading Rider and Leading Horse as part of its year-end awards. The Leading Rider Award is sponsored by LAURACEA. The winner of each award receives an engraved Tiffany crystal trophy and complimentary admission to the Hall of Fame’s annual Induction Ceremony and Awards Gala. Torano won the Series’ Leading Rider Award. Simon McCarthy and Ilan Ferder’s 9-year-old Selle Français mare, Good Mood Semilly, earned the Leading Horse Award with Torano in the irons.
“Obviously, it’s been a great year,” Torano said. “To win something like this is a very, very big win. It’s such a great feeling. My mom’s won this award three times, so I guess the thing for me to do now is try to beat her record.”
