SUNY Morrisville Suspends IHSA Team for 2025-2026 Academic Year

On August 15, SUNY Morrisville’s School of Agriculture, Business and Technology announced that it will suspend its Hunt Seat IHSA Team for the 2025-2026 academic year. The update comes a mere week before students are set to return to the university’s campus. The team will reportedly be re-evaluated by May 2026.

In a letter to students, SUNY Morrisville Deans Dr. Bin Zhu and Jason Zbock wrote that they “remain fully committed to the success of the Equine program” at the university. Along with suspending the school’s IHSA team, SUNY Morrisville’s Equine Program will see changes in its Hunt Seat curriculum, such as the restructuring of certain courses. Dr. Zhu and Zbock attribute these alterations to “to the absence of a dedicated Hunt Seat faculty member and broader cost-saving measures on campus.”

It is unclear if the SUNNY Morrisville IHSA team will return for the 2026-2027 academic year following an evaluation later set to occur this year.
