By VIRGINIA SHAW GENTHNER
Spring began to turn to summer and Pudge and Paisley began to get excited for the camp season.
“Pudge, do you think all the kids will like us?” Paisley asked.
“Of course!” Exclaimed Pudge “We will make lots of new friends this summer.”
Paisley was so happy with Pudge’s response.
The daily routine of lessons continued all while Pudge and Paisley continued to grow as friends. They loved when they first left their stalls in the morning and went on a morning jaunt in the dewey grass in their paddock. Pudge always seemed to get the biggest hay pile which didn’t bother Paisley as she was just happy that she and Pudge were friends.
During one of their morning jaunts Paisley gave a big ole buck.
“Ouch!” She exclaimed and immediately began limping.
“Paisley are you ok?” Asked Pudge.
“I’m not sure.” Said Paisley. “Maybe I just need to walk it off.”
As she began to walk again she continued to limp.
By now, Katie, the barn manger, noticed.
“Oh Paisley” said Katie “What have you done?”
Katie entered the paddock and felt up and down Paisley’s leg.
“Well, looks like we better call the vet.” Katie walked away and picked up her phone to make the call.
“Ahhh Pudge! The Vet!” Screeched Paisley.
“Geez! I’m not deaf.” Said Pudge.
“Pudge, we are almost to camp season! What if I can’t participate because I’m injured?” Asked Paisley
“I’m sure you will be fine.” Said Pudge.
But the inside Pudge wasn’t sure. He was worried but didn’t want Paisley to know that. He went on eating his hay waiting to see what happened with his friend.
